  • Barlow Common: Linnet - 30+ ; Mistle Thrush - 1
  • Brownhills Lane: Pink-footed Goose - 1 - with Greylags again after several days' absence ; Greylag Goose - 120 - at least ; Wren - 1 - only passerine seen in a kilometre!
  • Holdworth: Fieldfare - c60 - feeding on apples still on tree. ; Starling - c120 - feeding in sheep fields. ; Dunnock - 7 - single group alarm calling from wall.
  • Ladybower Res, North arm: Redwing - 12 ; Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Finch sp - c30 - mixed flock of Brambling & Chaffinch ; Cormorant - 1 ; Tawny Owl - 1 - calling
  • Ladybower Res, West arm: 321 - 1 ; Greenfinch - 1 - in tree by main road ; Redwing - c10 - feeding on hawthorn berries along roadside
  • Middleton Moor: 320 - 46 - Surface of lagoon 90% frozen ; Shelduck - 1
  • Onesmoor: Meadow Pipit - 12 ; Skylark - 17 ; Rook - 22 - feeding in surrounding fields.
  • Owlthorpe garden: Stock Dove - 2 - 2 in garden bordering Owlthorpe Fields ; Mistle Thrush - 2 ; Greenfinch - 4 ; Goldfinch - 15 ; Blue Tit - 1 ; Great Tit - 1 ; Woodpigeon - 5 ; Blackbird - 2 - Male and female. Male is a regular visitor, he can’t close his beak so he’s very easy to identify. ; Feral Pigeon - 2 ; Magpie - 2 - regular garden visitors.

  • R Don, Stevenson Rd: Dipper - 1 - Just downstream of Stevenson Road Bridge
  • Redmires Bottom Res: Common Gull - 3 - 2 adults and 2nd winter circling
  • Redmires Top Res: Crossbill - 3 - Including superb red male ; Siskin - c20 ; Long-tailed Tit - 9 ; Goldcrest - 5 ; Grey Wagtail - 1 - picking along frozen edge of res ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - along frozen edge of res ; Siskin - 15 ; Lesser Redpoll - 3 ; Goldfinch - 20 ; Goldcrest - 2 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Long-tailed Tit - 12 ; Dunnock - 1
