  • Middleton Moor: 320 - 27 ; Tufted Duck - 6 ; Wigeon - 3 ; Common Gull - 42 ; Wigeon - 2 - Pair ; Teal - 25 ; Tufted Duck - 14 ; Coot - 11 ; Greylag Goose - 8
  • Millhouses: Goldfinch - 60+ - Sheaf Valley Walk. Usual pre-roost gathering at 15:30.
  • Morley Pond: Mandarin - 1 - male near boathouse ; Mallard - 100+ ; Moorhen - 2 ; Coot - 1 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - calls inc "rattle" from copse at W end of lake ; Blackbird - 1+
  • Padley: Kestrel - 1 ; Raven - 1
  • R Don, Effingham St: Goosander - 2 ; Goosander - 2
  • R Don, Newhall Road: Kingfisher - 1 - female
  • R Don, Salmon Pastures: Ring-necked Parakeet - 1
  • Redmires Top Res: Waxwing - 186+ - through west to roost 15:20-15:50. Many perched up in conifers before carrying on west. ; Black-headed Gull - 615 - Roosted ; Starling - 3 - Arrived and looked to land with Waxwings before continuing. ; Waxwing - 186+ - another photo ; Herring Gull - 1 - Adult with damaged left leg; didn't stay to roost
  • RVCP: GREAT WHITE EGRET - 1 - north @ 09-25,,please delete the previous days record. ; Little Grebe - 6 - max for year
  • Upper Common, Scholes: Sparrowhawk - 1 - hunting, disturbed Wood and Feral pigeons from cover crop, appearing to take down a white Feral Pigeon
  • Walkley garden: Magpie - 1 - Chasing circling bat that had wing damage ; Redwing - 2 - Plenty of holly berries but low numbers feeding ; Blackbird - 6+ - On berried holly bushes.
  • Wardlow: Common Gull - 160 - In recently manured field with starlings
  • Wire Mill Dam: Mallard - 33 - 19m & 14f ; Mandarin - 1 - m ; Goosander - 3 - 2m & 1f ; Jackdaw - 20

  • Carr Vale NR: Little Egret - 1 - Arrived from NE ; Willow Tit - 2
  • Firsby Res: Mute Swan - 2 ; Mallard - 8 ; Coot - 2 ; Moorhen - 2 ; Water Rail - 1 - Squealing from flooded area far end of large Res. ; Pied Wagtail - 1 ; Black-headed Gull - 2 - Stood on telegraph pole. ; Great Black-backed Gull - 1 - Over East. ; Herring Gull - 20+ - Down on surrounding farmland until flushed by bird of prey possible Peregrine. ; Pheasant - 5 ; Red-legged Partridge - 25 - Single flock. ; 319 - 1 - Calling over site. ; Kestrel - 1 - Hunting Male. ; Barn Owl - 1 - Flew from farm building lane afternoon. ; Jay - 1 - On ground in willows. ; Song Thrush - 2 ; Fieldfare - 100+ - Large mobile flock. ; Redwing - 15+ ; Yellowhammer - 20 - Flock perched on hedgerow then flew into stubble field. ; Bullfinch - 1 - Male. ; Bullfinch - 1 - Male. ; Chaffinch - 2 - Pair near small holding. ; Goldfinch - 10+ ; Linnet - 2 ; Skylark - 1 ; Goldcrest - 4
  • Fulwood garden: Blackcap - 1 - female, coming repeatedly to feeder ; Jay - 1 ; Coal Tit - 1
  • Gibraltar Rocks: Stonechat - 2 - a pair perching on gorse ; Reed Bunting - 2 - a male and probable female perched on gorse along with Stonechat pair
  • Graves Park: Goosander - 5 - 3 males, 2 redheads on Boating Lake
  • Intake: Waxwing - 30 - Approx 30 feeding in berry tree on Mansfield Road by entrance to Intake Cemetery at 1030.
  • Loundsley Green: Waxwing - 4 - DOS report; still present Elkstone Rd
  • Manor Top: Waxwing - 80+ - Feeding in a berry tree on the top of Pit Lane.
  • Moscar Flat/Hollow Meadows: Barn Owl - 1 - hunting over fields
  • Norton Lees: Waxwing - 45-50 - at Lees House Ct
  • Old Ravenfield: Yellowhammer - 1 - Along path from woods to village. ; Mistle Thrush - 1 - In horse paddock. ; Lesser Redpoll - 5+ - In tree tops on old colliery railway embankment.
  • Poolsbrook Marsh: Grey Heron - 1 ; Redwing - 30 - left roost in hawthorns ; Water Rail - 1 - calling ; Cetti's Warbler - 3 - calling
  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Long-tailed Tit - 10+ - mobile flock, fed in garden for several minutes before moving on
  • Rivelin Valley: Kingfisher - 1 ; Moorhen - 1 ; Mallard - 3 - Rivelin showing extensive damage from storms and heavy rain . Hind wheel dam walls collapsed on east and west ends . Footpath from Hind wheel to Rivelin Glen collapsed and impassable . Coppice wheels colossal stepping stones gone and river changed course. Multiple tree falls . Railings on cobbled path down to Wolf wheel broken by falling tree . Dangerous

  • Ughill Farm: Snipe - 1 - dropped down into rushy pasture ; Kestrel - 1 - hover hunting and catching prey ; Wren - 2 ; 319 - 1 ; Starling - c20 - in Hawthorn tree along with Fieldfares ; Fieldfare - c20 - feeding in Hawthorn tree
