Rockingham Wood: Song Thrush - 1 - singing from N edge

Thrybergh: House Sparrow - 30 - Good numbers of young bird at garden feeders

R Don, Meadowhall: Little Egret - 1 - Flying down river before landing below Weedon St bridge

R Don, Rotherham Centre: Grey Wagtail - 2 - at least one male ; Kingfisher - 1 - by Chantry Bridge

Rocher Flat: Red Kite - 4 - together over recently cut field, all looked adult/subadult.

Upper Common, Scholes: Skylark - 3+ - up from long grass ; Song Thrush - 1 - singing from low down in willow scrub ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - circling above tractor

Westwood CP: Great Crested Grebe - 2 - pair swimming with 3 chicks

Ecclesfield: House Martin - 2+ - Low over Nether Lane

Fatty Boyns Ponds: Goldfinch - c15 - post-breeding flock ; Chiffchaff - 7+ - 2 singing, 5+ in mobile tit-flock ; Pheasant - 1 - crowing cock ; Long-tailed Tit - 11+ - in mixed flock ; Whitethroat - 3 - one 'scolding' + 2 fledged juvs ; Blackcap - 2 - singing ; Mallard - 2+ - two ducks with 5 juvs ; Little Grebe - 2 - fully-grown juvs; no adults seen. Very secretive this year! ; Moorhen - 1 - adult ; Great Tit - 5+ - mixed flock ; Blue Tit - 5+ - mixed flock

Millhouses: Swift - 10 - Low over R Sheaf and neighbouring trees in rain at 20:45. Presumably not local birds. Max count in June was 2.

Morehall Tip / R.Don: Dipper - 2 - adult feeding fledged juv on river. ; Kingfisher - 1 - male fishing from overhanging willow.
