  • Gleadless Valley LNR: Kestrel - 1
  • Green Moor: House Sparrow - 10+ - Family parties, feeding at least 4 juvs ; Greenfinch - 6+ - Bred , at least two juveniles present
  • Greystones garden: Dunnock - 3 - 1 adult & 2 Juveniles in observer's garden
  • Malin Bridge: Barn Owl - 1 - nocmig 3 flight calls at 23:36
  • Meersbrook Park: Mistle Thrush - 2

  • Redmires Res: Sedge Warbler - 1 - singing by Middle Res - soon moved on ; Whitethroat - 4 - singing ; Stonechat - 2 - pair feeding young - south of Middle Res ; Kestrel - 1 ; Curlew - 6 ; Common Sandpiper - 4 ; Lesser Redpoll - 2 - pair of adults feeding in trees - one was a leucistic individual with washed out brown-grey plumage and a white head, breast & mantle ; Golden Plover - 2 - pair over ridge to south of Middle Res ; Stock Dove - 6 ; Cuckoo - 2 - pair seen on south side of Middle Res ; Moorhen - 1 - ad still on nest by Top Res
  • Rivelin Dams: Little Grebe - 1 - ad on Top Res ; Grey Heron - 1 - arrived from South ; Wood Warbler - 1 - singing ; Grey Wagtail - 1 - by overflow
  • Southgrove Road: Long-tailed Tit - 3 - Nest with young is being attended by 3 adults

  • Load Brook: Tree Sparrow - 2 - pair at nest box, Beeton Farm
  • Orgreave Lakes: Yellow Wagtail - 3 ; Wheatear - 1 - Female on rocks ; Ringed Plover - 6 - Including 3 tundrae types ; Common Sandpiper - 1
  • Rivelin: Lesser Whitethroat - 1 - singing male at Roscoe Bank

Saturday 9th May 2020

  • Rivelin Valley: Dipper - 2 - pair feeding young ; 319 - 2 - Over Toft Wood, mewing, one had been swooping up and down.

  • Orgreave Lakes: Pochard - 2 - Pair ; Common Sandpiper - 2 ; Whimbrel - 1 ; Little Ringed Plover - 2 ; Grey Partridge - 4 - 2 pairs on tip

  • Bamford Edge: Pied Flycatcher - 1 - singing in woods along New Road
  • Cutthroat Bridge: Lesser Whitethroat - 1 - singing in bushes at car park
  • Ladybower Wood: Pied Flycatcher - 3 - inc pair at nest box
  • Orgreave Lakes: Kingfisher - 1 ; Dunlin - 2 ; Ringed Plover - 3 ; Yellow Wagtail - 1 ; Great Crested Grebe - 25 - On both lakes

  • Dennis Knoll: Spotted Flycatcher - 1
  • Upper Burbage Bridge: Whinchat - 2 - pair present (and 25th June) - the only ones I found in almost 100 hours birding in SK28 this spring
  • Walkley Bank: Swift - 8

  • Orgreave Lakes: Whimbrel - 4 - Long staying bird + 3 north ; Dunlin - 2 ; Ringed Plover - 1 ; Oystercatcher - 5 ; Grey Partridge - 2 - Pair ; Grey Partridge - 2 - 2nd Pair ; Wheatear - 1 - On tip ; Swift - 150 - At least 150 ; Coot - 6 - Nest with 5 chicks
  • Sugworth Hall: Crossbill - 5 ; Wood Warbler - 1
  • Wharncliffe Heath NR: Pied Flycatcher - 6 - singing males
