  • Blacka Moor: Skylark - 6 ; Curlew - 2 ; Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - 1 reeling and showing well above Strawberry Lee Pastures. No sign of second bird.

  • Burncross, Chapeltown: Greenfinch - 1 - Display flight from conifers ; Swift - 4
  • Canyon Pond, Treeton: Pochard - 1 - Drake ; Kingfisher - 1
  • Chesterfield Canal, New Whittington: Yellowhammer - 1 heard
  • Hurlfield: Tawny Owl - 3+ - 2 adults and at least 1 young this evening.
  • Lodge Moor: Tree Sparrow - 2+ - Pair feeding young in hedge by playground at SW corner of Lodge Moor estate
  • Malin Bridge: Oystercatcher - 1 - nocmig recording, calling 00:55
  • Middleton Moor: Shelduck - 1 ; Oystercatcher - 2
  • Moorland Fringe: Nightjar - 5 - inc 4 males, from 3 sites
  • Morehall Res: Goosander - 1 - Female asleep on reservoir bank, very unusual for the time of year
  • Moscar House: Curlew - 2 - pair with 2 chicks
  • Moscar Lodge: Lesser Redpoll - 5
  • Nether Handley: 319 - 1 - Being mobbed by crow
  • New Stubbin colliery/tip: Blackcap - 5 - 1 (SK4396); 4 (SK4296), all singing ; Willow Warbler - 10+ - inc 9+ singing ; Chiffchaff - 2 - singing ; Yellowhammer - 7 - inc 3 singing ; Bullfinch - 1pr ; Song Thrush - 4 - inc 1 singing ; Chaffinch - 2 - singing ; Whitethroat - 1 - singing ; Garden Warbler - 1 - singing ; Great Tit - breeding confirmed - family party ; Kestrel - 1 ; Mistle Thrush - 2 ; Long-tailed Tit - present - several noisy, mobile flocks with dependent juvs ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - disturbed from woodland in same area as yesterday ; Red-legged Partridge - 1 - calling
  • New Stubbin; Back Lane: Common Buzzard - 1 - sat on pylon. Possibly same bird later over colliery tip ; Woodpigeon - 60-70 - feeding in adjacent field
  • New Whittington: Yellowhammer - 1 heard
  • New Whittington area: Green Woodpecker - 1 heard
  • Orgreave Lakes: BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 1 - large lake ; Dunlin - 2 ; BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 1
  • Oughtibridge: Blue Tit - 2+ - feeding young at 2 active nest's..1 in stone wall, 1 in old woodpecker nest. ; Nuthatch - 1+ - young being fed at entrance hole.
  • Padley Gorge: Wood Warbler - 1 ; Treecreeper - 1 - entering nest hole ; Pied Flycatcher - 1 - male
  • Rawmarsh: Common Buzzard - 1 - high to W @ 1105hrs
  • Rawmarsh Cemetery: Blackcap - 1 - singing ; Chaffinch - 1 - singing ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - calling excitedly from canopy; breeding possible ; Song Thrush - 3 - inc 1 singing & 1 with nest material
  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Kestrel - 1
  • Rawmarsh; Stubbin Incline: Blackcap - 2 - singing ; Whitethroat - 1 - singing ; Chaffinch - 1 - singing ; Song Thrush - 1 ; Red-legged Partridge - 1 - calling in adjacent field ; Kestrel - 1 - male, on ground in adjacent field ; Chiffchaff - 1 - singing ; Bullfinch - 1 - singing
  • Redmires: Tawny Owl - 1 - also 3 young have fledged at this site, seen being fed by adult
  • Redmires Middle Res: Ringed Plover - 2 - looked to be a larger paler nominate bird, with a smaller darker tundrae ; Greylag Goose - 25 - 23 flew in, plus pair with 2 chicks ; Snipe - 3 - drumming, 2 over soft rush to S, 1 Hammonds Field
  • Redmires Plantation: Cuckoo - 2
  • Roper Hill: Oystercatcher - 2 - no longer incubating, field with Herring and LBBG's in.
  • Shillito Wood: Spotted Flycatcher - 2 ; Tree Pipit - 2
  • Sothall: QUAIL - 1 - nocmig sound recorded over the garden at 01:51 ; Oystercatcher - 2 - nocmig sound recorded over the garden 0320hr
  • Stanage Edge: Whinchat - 1 - 200m below (south/South East) of Trig point ; Ring Ouzel - 1 - Singing Male ; Wheatear - 1 - female ; Willow Warbler - 1 ; Linnet - 2 ; Meadow Pipit - 10+ ; Lapwing - 3 ; Swift - 2
  • Stanage Edge, below: Ring Ouzel - 1
  • Stanage Plantation: Pied Flycatcher - 1 ; Willow Warbler - 4+ - one observed taking food to nest repeatedly ; Garden Warbler - 1 ; Robin - 3+ ; Woodcock - 1
