  • R Derwent, Harper Lees to Grindleford: 319 - 4 - 4 in air at same time ; Dipper - 6 ; Mandarin - 6
  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Greenfinch - 1 - singing
  • Rawmarsh; Stubbin incline: Red-legged Partridge - 1 - calling, adjacent field ; Chaffinch - 2 - singing ; Pheasant - 1 - crowing
  • RVCP: Herring Gull - 65 - monthly max ; Common Gull - 1 - Very scarce here this winter

  • Blacka Moor: Skylark - 18 - feeding together
  • Brightside: Ring-necked Parakeet - 85 - In roost opposite Royal Mail office.
  • Bucka Hill: Stonechat - 5 - 4 males and a female
  • Catcliffe Flash: Goldcrest - 1
  • Dog Kennel Pond: Kestrel - 1 - hunting S side, possibly same bird seen earlier feeding on prey on telegraph pole SK397957 ; Cormorant - 1 ; Lapwing - c30 - on exposed island
  • Endcliffe Park: Kingfisher - 1 - Perched on branch above upper pond at 17:20
  • Firsby Res: Mute Swan - 2 - Resident pair. ; Coot - 2 ; Moorhen - 1 ; Mallard - 4 - Main Res, of note not 1 single Teal so far this winter. ; Woodcock - 1 - Flushed from set aside field at dawn. ; Song Thrush - 2 - Singing early morning. ; Fieldfare - 9 - Surrounding farmland. ; Redwing - 1 - From Willows early morning. ; Magpie - 10 - Out of roost early morning. ; Red-legged Partridge - 1 ; Pheasant - 2 - Roosting in trees. ; Skylark - 1 - Singing over site early morning.
  • Low Common: Pied Wagtail - 16 - feeding in flat - recently tilled field
  • Middle Common: Reed Bunting - 4 - 2 males in and out of cover crop from defunct hedge,other side stubble field ; Meadow Pipit - 1 - in same area as buntings
  • Morley Pond: Mute Swan - 2+ - resident pair with others - juvs back n forth between lakes ; Wigeon - 5 - males feeding on grass, N side W of boathouse ; Mandarin - 1 - male, active on and around W island ; Mallard - 30+ ; Tufted Duck - 6+ ; Goosander - 6+ - 2 red heads, W end with more at Cascades SK394964

  • Orgreave Lakes: Oystercatcher - 2 ; Little Egret - 3 ; Stonechat - 1 - Female ; 319 - 2 ; Goosander - 3 ; Shelduck - 1 ; Lesser Redpoll - 1 ; Bullfinch - 1 - Male
  • Parkgate; *Banana* plantation: Long-tailed Tit - 2 ; Goldfinch - 2 - one singing ; Magpie - 7 - 5 sat together in treetop + pair nestbuilding
  • Parkgate; Great Eastern Way: Pied Wagtail - 1 - on carriageway
  • Peat Pits: Golden Plover - c200 ; Lapwing - c25 ; Lapwing - c40 - Two separate flocks, c25 and c15
  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Greenfinch - 1 - singing from TV aerial.
  • Redmires Top Res: Shelduck - 1 ; Oystercatcher - 4
  • Rivelin Valley: Goldcrest - 1 ; Grey Wagtail - 1
  • Stone Moor: Lapwing - 24 - Flock in field next to layby on Stone Moor Road.
  • Strines Moor: Lapwing - 41
  • Treeton Dyke: Sparrowhawk - 1
  • Upper Common, Scholes: Meadow Pipit - 1
  • Upper Derwentdale: Crossbill - 6+ - 2 singing males and at least 4 female types
  • Walkley: Sparrowhawk - 1 - flew through Millennium Green at speed, just a few feet above the ground
  • Walkley Bank: Raven - 4 - Two pairs chasing about and croaking, over Bentley Road.
  • Walkley garden: Redwing - 1 - Single roosting nightly in holly, for at least a week.

  • Aldwarke: Peregrine - 2
  • Attercliffe: Herring Gull - c70 ; Great Black-backed Gull - 1 - just a single adult. ; Kestrel - 1 - hovering ; 319 - 1 - over
  • Barlow Common: 319 - 2 - circling, including one over observer's garden
  • Birley Edge: Blackcap - 1 - Female on garden feeders, aggresively fighting off tits and finches
  • Brightside: Ring-necked Parakeet - 83 - at least, roosting after dark illuminated by street lights.
  • Brownhills Lane: Curlew - 12 ; Oystercatcher - 2 ; 319 - 2
  • Dog Kennel Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 4 ; Grey Heron - 1 - fishing in shallow water, N side ; Mallard - 1+ ; Moorhen - 3+ ; Coot - 1+ ; Lapwing - 50+ - on exposed island,until disturbed, possibly by gulls(lake still partially drained - bank at E end being reinforced)? ; Black-headed Gull - 30+
