  • Rocher Head/Church Farm farmland: Willow Warbler - 3+ - singing males ; Meadow Pipit - 1 ; Nuthatch - 1 ; Golden Plover - 1 - displaying over rough pasture near White Lee Moor ; Redstart - 4+ - 2 probable pairs plus one female seen, one singing male ; Curlew - 1 - in pasture ; Robin - 3 - including one chasing a Redstart off her perch! ; Snipe - 1 - chipping ; Lapwing - 4+ - in pasture, no young seen ; Ring Ouzel - 4 - 3 females and 1 male feeding in pasture that slopes down towards Cowell Flat ; Fieldfare - 1 - flew off from pasture towards Cowell Flat along with two other thrushes, perhaps Mistle Thrushes ; Blackbird - 2 - one feeding in pasture alongside Ring Ouzels ; Magpie - 1 ; Chaffinch - 3 - singing males ; Dunnock - 2 - courting pair ; Blue Tit - 2
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Coot - 2+ - 2 females with fresh broods ; Swallow - 2
  • Thrybergh CP: Green Woodpecker - 1
  • West Nab/Swan Height: Skylark - 1 - displaying ; Meadow Pipit - 7 - 2 displaying ; Lapwing - 1 - fly over ; Red Grouse - 2 ; 319 - 1 - unsuccessful hunt ; Willow Warbler - 1 ; Blackbird - 2 ; Chaffinch - 1
  • West Nab/Walker Edge: Whitethroat - 2 - singing males ; Swallow - 1 - fly over ; Great Tit - 2 ; Cuckoo - 1 - flew from White Lee Moor plantation over moor, calling as it went ; Willow Warbler - 3 ; Chiffchaff - 1 - feeding on insects congregating around gorse flowers ; Chaffinch - 1 - singing male ; Dunnock - 1 ; Robin - 1 - singing male ; Greylag Goose - 1 - sitting, presumably, on nest, by cattle feeder in pasture
  • Wharncliffe Heath NR: Pied Flycatcher - 2 - singing

  • Agden Rocher: Redstart - 2 - singing males ; Pied Flycatcher - 4 - 2p, males singing ; Green Woodpecker - 1 - female ; Tree Pipit - 2 - singing males
  • Bole Hill, Treeton: Lapwing - 11 - 3 pairs of adult birds and at least 5 newly hatched chicks.
  • Bolehill Flash: Water Rail - 1 - calling from farm side of reed bed
  • Burbage Valley: Cuckoo - 1 - Heard
  • Canyards: Cuckoo - 1
  • Chelmorton: Swift - 2 - 2N, just inside the recording area
  • Cowell Flat: Snipe - 4 ; Yellow Wagtail - 1+ - calls heard twice overhead
  • Ecclesall: Cormorant - 1 - flew high to the NW over Ansell Road
  • Ecclesfield: Ring-necked Parakeet - 1 - Calling over houses.
  • Froggatt Wood: Pied Flycatcher - 2 - Pair ; Blackcap - 1 - Male singing
  • Holling Dale: Red Kite - 2
  • Kimberworth Park: Goldcrest - 1 - singing, Rhodes Avenue/Roughwood Road
  • Langsett Res: Pied Flycatcher - 1 - male singing
  • Longshaw: Song Thrush - 3 - One young being fead away from nest by parents ; Song Thrush - 3 - About 1 hour later - nature stepped in
  • Middleton Moor: Reed Warbler - 2 - Singing ; Garden Warbler - 1 - Singing ; Oystercatcher - 2

  • Orgreave Lakes: BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 1 - Single bird feeding and showing well from south side main lake ; Shelduck - 2 - 1 pair flew across main lake
