  • Redmires Res: Tufted Duck - 1 - male on Top Res ; Curlew - 2 - displaying over Middle Res ; Dunlin - 1 - ad on Middle Res ; Ringed Plover - 1 - ad - British race hiaticula on Middle Res ; Common Sandpiper - 4 ; Cuckoo - 1 - singing by Bottom Res ; Swallow - 6 ; Sand Martin - 2 - circled Middle Res before continuing NE ; Dunlin - 1 - another photo showing pre-breeding moult not yet completed
  • Rocher Head Farm: Red Kite - 1 - circling low over sheep pastures off Smallfield Lane, mobbed by curlews
  • RVCP, Meadowgate Lake: Common Tern - 5 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - pair - A pair attempted to nest on the island, incubating for more than a week before the nest/eggs were destroyed/predated as the falling water levels gave access to the island for foxes etc.
  • Sheepwash: Cuckoo - 1 - flew over and into plantation at Dennis Knoll ; Tree Pipit - 1 - singing ; Stonechat - 2 - pair feeding young ; Linnet - 2 - pair holding territory
  • Thorpe Hesley: House Martin - 5 - Back over traditional breeding site off Hesley Lane. ; Whitethroat - 1 - Singing near cricket ground next to M1 J35a ; Chiffchaff - 2 singing ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 5 - south
  • Thrybergh CP: Egyptian Goose - 1 ; Oystercatcher - 2 ; Lapwing - 8 ; Snipe - 1 ; Swift - 12 ; Swallow - 4 ; Tawny Owl - 1 ; Cuckoo - 1 - One bird calling towards Old Ravenfield off old railway line
  • Totley: Swift - 2
  • Walkley garden: Swift - 8 - Flying past screaming close to previous nest site
  • Wigtwizzle: Song Thrush - 4 - all singing around site. ; Woodcock - 1 - roding at dusk.
  • Wyming Brook: Wood Warbler - 3 - 1 seen well. 2 others heard

  • A Nether Green garden: Great Tit - 3+ - brood successfully fledged from box today after 18 days
  • Agden: Wood Warbler - 1 - 1 calling again in 11 acre wood, opposite top of windy bank.
  • Botanical Gardens: Swift - 9
  • Burbage Valley: Ring Ouzel - 4+ - 3 singing males, nest building female ; Cuckoo - 1 - Over Owler Tor - Wynards Nick - Burbage Valley. ; Kestrel - 1 - chased by Cuckoo ; Stonechat - 3+ - inc pair feeding young in nest ; Reed Bunting - 1 - heard only ; Lapwing - 4 - displaying ; Snipe - 1 - chipping ; Grey Wagtail - 2 - pair in suitable nesting habitat ; Whitethroat - 1 ; Willow Warbler - 3+
  • Clod Hall Moor: Cuckoo - 1
  • Cordwell Valley: Dipper - 1
  • Dungworth: Wheatear - 1 - female on dry stone wall near Sidling Hollow.
  • Firsby Res: Yellow Wagtail - 1 - Male at abandoned farm ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - Male with Yellow Wagtail. ; Kestrel - 2 - Pair nesting activity. ; Swallow - 6 ; Swift - 19 ; Whitethroat - 12 ; Blackcap - 6 ; Great Tit - 3 - 2 nesting in stone wall at farm. ; Blue Tit - 6 - Including nesting pair in tree stump. ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 ; Linnet - 10+ ; Reed Bunting - 1 - Singing male ; Yellowhammer - 2 ; Kestrel - 3 - including pair at nest site? ; Song Thrush - 2 ; Treecreeper - 2 ; Chiffchaff - 5 ; Willow Warbler - 7 ; Stock Dove - 1+ - Squab fallen out of nest hole returned.
  • Fulwood: Tree Sparrow - 2 - pair visiting probable nest in roof eaves. Frequency indicates feeding chicks.
  • Fulwood garden: Jackdaw - 4 - gathering food, including one partially leucistic bird ; House Martin - 2 - first of the year here ; Swift - 6
  • High Bradfield: Snipe - c5 - RSPB wader survey, 2-3p above High Bradfield, including adult and 2 small chicks
  • High Green: 319 - 4 - Circling 11am
  • Kimberworth Park: Swift - c20 - tight formation, quite low over Shearman Avenue, 08:35
  • New Stubbin colliery/tip: Red-legged Partridge - 4 ; Chiffchaff - 5 - 2 SK4396; 3 SK4296, all singing ; Blackcap - 4 - 1 SK4396; 3 SK4296, all singing ; Willow Warbler - 7 - singing ; Chaffinch - 2 - singles SK4296 & 4396, both singing ; Yellowhammer - 4 - 2 singing ; Long-tailed Tit - 4+ ; Song Thrush - 2 - 1 singing ; Whitethroat - 2 - singing ; Swift - 6 - over ; Kestrel - 1 - female, hunting; left W with prey
