Middle Common: 319 - 1 - on telegraph pole then across to Scholes Coppice, same bird? returning later

Middleton Moor: Great Crested Grebe - 1 ; Shelduck - 2+ - family group of 2 adults, 6 juvs ; Curlew - 1 ; Greylag Goose - 8 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 650+ ; Reed Warbler - 1 - singing

Morley Pond: Greylag Goose - 50+ - moving into field at west end

Parkgate; Rotherham Road: Grey Heron - 1 - low over road between Fitzwilliam Canal & Rotherham Cut

R Don, Effingham St: Yellow-legged Gull - 1 - Juv ; Yellow-legged Gull - 1 - juv second photo ; Little Egret - 1 ; Kingfisher - 1 ; Yellow-legged Gull - 2 - juv and 2cy

Rotherham Centre: Peregrine - 1 - S/SW following line of river @ 0850hrs

Rotherham; Grafton Bridge: Raven - 1 - E/NE towards Aldwarke @ 0835hrs ; Cormorant - 1 - flew up from river & headed upstream towards town centre @ 0835hrs

Rotherham; Rawmarsh Road: Sand Martin - 4 - feeding over Ashley Business Court

RVCP: Sand Martin - 200+

Tankersley: Lapwing - 4 - Well grown juveniles ; Kestrel - 3 - Much calling, presumed family group

Tyzack*s Dam: Grey Heron - 6 - My highest ever count there. Presumably there with the Sheaf in spate.

Catcliffe Flash: Wigeon - 1 - Eclipse male

Ecclesfield.: Swift - 4 - South., High Street at 09:10

Lower Bradfield: House Martin - 10+ ; Swift - 3 ; Swallow - 5+ ; Hobby - 1 - Low over fields towards Dam Flask ; Mandarin - 4 - Juveniles ; Greenfinch - 1

Middleton Moor: Yellow-legged Gull - 9 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - c500 ; Shelduck - 9 - 1 adult ; Little Ringed Plover - 2 ; Curlew - 1 ; Lapwing - 4

Millhouses Park: Moorhen - 5 - Two adults and three half grown chicks. Doing well to survive the deluges and dogs. ; Swift - 12+ - Total between 0830 and 0900 feeding over the park and moving SSW.

R Don, Aldwarke: Chiffchaff - 1 - calling ; Stock Dove - 1 ; Blackcap - 1 - calling ; Common Sandpiper - 1 - flew downriver, calling ; Kingfisher - 1 - excited calling

Rawmarsh: Greenfinch - 1 - singing; Rockcliffe Road

RVCP: Common Tern - 5 - same family group ; Egyptian Goose - 4 ; Peregrine - 1 - appeared to be a fresh juvenile

Silverwood Lagoon: Common Sandpiper - 1 - At 1417hrs flushed off by person (adult) with inflatable canoe scaring everything into cover or away

Tankersley: House Martin - c80 - 19.00 feeding in moderate rainfall ; Swallow - c20 ; Pintail - 1 - Female still present

Thrybergh CP: Mute Swan - 25+ - + 1 full-grown cygnet ; Grey Heron - 1 - imm ; Canada Goose - 72 ; Lapwing - 50+ - 50-55 ; Greylag Goose - 1 ; Pied Wagtail - 4+ ; Little Ringed Plover - 1 - adult ; Coot - 5 ; Lesser Whitethroat - 1 - filter beds ; Reed Warbler - 7+ - inc 2 singing, all at S end ; Goldfinch - c30 - post-breeding flock ; Song Thrush - 1 - singing, Hope Field ; Cormorant - 1 - circled & left NW ; Common Tern - 1 - adult briefly, around 0805hrs ; Tree Sparrow - 1 - calling from hedgerow at S end ; Whitethroat - 7+ - inc 1 singing ; Reed Bunting - 2 - male on dam; f/juv in S arm ; Blackcap - 3+ - all f/juvs ; Moorhen - 2 ; Chiffchaff - 19+ - inc 2 singing; most in filter bed area.

Bamford Mill: Little Egret - 1 - After looking unwell, died today

Baslow: Swift - 45 - South 13.00-13.20 in drizzle ; 322 - 1 - Red Crested Turaco - perched on ornamental metal arch in neighbour's garden

Birley Edge: Swift - 20+ - Feeding overhead

Fulwood garden: Blackbird - 1 - partial albino

R Don, Neepsend: Little Egret - 1 - On section of river below Hillfoot Bridge

Rawmarsh: Sparrowhawk - 1 - on bungalow roof for several minutes; Bellows Close; left W @ 1450hrs

Redmires Res: Little Grebe - 1 - ad on Middle Res ; Cormorant - 1 - ad on Top Res - off N ; Mallard - 48 - ads & fledged juvs ; Tufted Duck - 4 - 2 m + female & chick ; Common Sandpiper - 1 - on Bottom Res ; Oystercatcher - 2 - in fields ; Curlew - 8 - inc 5 juvs ; Black-headed Gull - 14 - flew SW ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 30 - c. on Middle Res ; Herring Gull - 2 - ads with LBBs ; Common Gull - 1 - first summer W mid-morning ; Whitethroat - 4 ; Crossbill - 1 ; Sand Martin - 4 - flew SW
