  • Redmires Res: Herring Gull - 5 ; Ringed Plover - 1 - ad on Middle Res - alarming at presence of Carrion Crow ; Common Sandpiper - 9 - 4 prs with at least one newly hatched young on Top Res ; Black-headed Gull - 3 ; Swift - 5 - over Middle Res ; Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - Reeling south side of Middle Res ; Whitethroat - 3 - singing ; Spotted Flycatcher - 1 - Singing by Top Res ; Crossbill - 4 - party flew west at 07:45 ; Mistle Thrush - 6 - 3 pairs
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Hobby - 1 - hunting over northern end of lagoon at 08.10
  • Smallfield: Barn Owl - 1 - Hunting over fields 21.15
  • Treeton Dyke: 319 - 3 - Family party
  • Wadsley: Swift - 12 - Most this year.
  • West Nab: Curlew - 4 - flying and calling over rough pasture ; Lapwing - 3 - overflying area ; Rook - 20+ - 20-30 feeding in rough grassland ; Carrion Crow - 4 ; Skylark - 4+ - 4-5 singing in flight ; Meadow Pipit - 10+ ; Swift - 6 ; Mistle Thrush - 3 ; Blackbird - 3
  • Wharncliffe Heath NR: Pied Flycatcher - 2 - Pair around nest box, female seen entering ; Tree Pipit - 3 - 2 singing, another, presumably a female with beak full of insects, probably feeding juvs in a nest
  • Wharncliffe Wood: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 2+ - nest hole with well grown juv repeatedly calling and peering out, probably on the verge of fledging ; Nightjar - 1 - Churring heard at 22:15 audible from Wharncliffe side.
  • White Lee Moor: Curlew - 5+ - Several alarming ; Snipe - 2 - One still drumming at 22.15 ; Willow Warbler - 1 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 4 - East at 21.40 ; Cuckoo - 1 - Still calling at 22.10
  • Worrall: Little Owl - 1 - Stubbing Lane - On wall by road ; Curlew - 2 - One landed in field, was joined by second on ground

Monday 1st June 2020

  • Agden Rocher: Little Owl - 1 - hunting at 13.00pm. ; Swift - 80+ - feeding over rocher. ; Great Tit - 1+ - feeding young at nest box. ; Blue Tit - 2+ - feeding young at 2 nest box's. ; Pied Flycatcher - 2 - attending 2 nest box's. ; Redstart - 2+ - 2 active nests around site. ; Cuckoo - 1 - Male. ; Mistle Thrush - 2+ - Adult's feeding fledged young in tree tops. ; Nuthatch - 1+ - adult feeding young in nest box.
  • Barbrook Bridge: Whinchat - 1 ; 319 - 1 ; 324 - 18 - 18 Red Deer
  • Beeley Wood: Song Thrush - 2+ - adult feeding recently fledged juv
  • Burbage Valley: Woodcock - 3 - At least 3
  • Cutthroat Bridge: Ring Ouzel - 3 ; Stonechat - 3 ; Curlew - 01-Feb ; Lapwing - 2 ; 319 - 1
  • Endcliffe Park: Coot - 1+ - Well developed juvenile ; Moorhen - 3+ - 2 very young juveniles ; Mallard - 5+ - 5 juveniles ; Mandarin - 5 - Female & 4 ducklings
  • Lodge Moor: Little Owl - 1 - Flew from roadside on Lodge Moor Lane at 22-40
  • Middleton Moor: Lapwing - 34 ; Shelduck - 2 - a pair ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - singing ; Mallard - 1+ - f with 5 young ; Whitethroat - 1 ; Meadow Pipit - 1+ - adult carrying a caterpillar
  • Midhope Res: Chiffchaff - 7 - 1 ad with 4 fledglings ; Tufted Duck - 3 - Pair seeing off a 3rd bird ; 320 - 3 - Lone female plus pair left east towards dusk ; Little Grebe - 3 - Adult pair plus another, 2 trilling ; Siskin - 1+ ; Hobby - 1 - Fleeting glimpse as it flew towards Ewden. ; Great Crested Grebe - 1 - Patch tick for me here! ; Lapwing - 3 ; Cuckoo - 1 ; Long-tailed Tit - c6 - Family party ; Mallard - 5 - Female with 4 young ; Lesser Redpoll - 3 - Pair around eastern end towards dusk ; 319 - 1 ; Woodcock - 1 - Roding towards dusk ; Curlew - 4 ; Swallow - 3
  • Orgreave: BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 1 ; Great Crested Grebe - 31 ; Grey Wagtail - 3 - Adult with two young
  • Oughtibridge: Sedge Warbler - 1 - singing in vegetation to the west of waterside gardens near river don path to beeley wood ; Grey Wagtail - 3+ - 2 adults and one recently fledged juv
  • Peat Pits: Lapwing - 10 - incl. 4 well grown juvs. ; Swift - 10+ ; Skylark - 3 ; Curlew - 2
  • Redmires Top Res: Common Sandpiper - 3 - 2 adults with at least one chick at water edge ; Spotted Flycatcher - 2 - adult feeding young in roadside trees
  • Wharncliffe Wood: Nightjar - 1 - heard churring from recorders garden in wharncliffe side
