Sothall: Water Rail - 1 - nocmig sound recorded over garden 0027hr ; Oystercatcher - 1 - nocmig sound recorded over garden 0355hr ; Woodpigeon - 2 - pair with nest containing two eggs in front garden. Both young fledged. Second brood from the same nest also fledged two young.

Wharncliffe Heath NR: Pied Flycatcher - 2+ - pair feeding juvs in nest box ; Garden Warbler - 1

Agden: Mandarin - 9 - Female & 8 ducklings ; Swallow - 6+

Middleton Moor: Ringed Plover - 1

Morehall Res: Great Crested Grebe - 3 - 2 in courtship display ; Mallard - 30+ - one female with 2 newly hatched ducklings ; Moorhen - 1 - Nest next to res

Orgreave Lakes: Arctic Tern - 11 - A late party, including a 1st year bird, for 20 minutes before leaving north at 07:50 ; Arctic Tern - 10 - In at 07:50 ; Common Tern - 1 - With Arctic Terns

Peat Pits: Chaffinch - 1 - female sat on nest. ; Linnet - 1 - fledged juvenile sat on wall.

Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Song Thrush - 1 - flew over garden carrying food.

Redmires Middle Res: Oystercatcher - 3 - pair on resr, one Roper Hill ; Ringed Plover - 2

Redmires Top Res: Common Sandpiper - 1 - ad and 2 small chicks

Ringinglow: Kestrel - 2

Rod Hill: Barn Owl - 1 - Hunting at dusk

Birley Edge: Red Kite - 1 - Soaring over Birley Edge then drifted over the Don valley towards Worrall

Blacka Moor: Linnet - 2 ; Reed Bunting - 4 ; Stonechat - 4 ; Raven - 2 ; Meadow Pipit - 12

Bradfield/Rocher Cowell area: Snipe - 4 - all calling from different points ; Curlew - 3 ; Lapwing - 4 ; Red Grouse - 2 - male/female feeding in heather ; Meadow Pipit - 06-Oct

Burbage Valley: Ring Ouzel - 3 - Three males calling from different points, including this fine specimen, calling from the same outcrop for more than 15 minutes. ; Whinchat - 1 - singing male ; Stonechat - 2 - fledglings ; Dunnock - 2 - Fledged birds calling for food.

Burncross, Chapeltown: Swift - 20-30 - 9pm

Catcliffe Flash: Little Grebe - 2 - 1 on nest ; Reed Bunting - 1 - Male ; Black-headed Gull - 10 ; Tufted Duck - 3 - M&F

Damflask Res: Great Crested Grebe - 3

Dore: Robin - 1 - recently fledged bird in observer's garden ; Goldfinch - 1 - recently fledged

Ecclesfield: Common Buzzard - 1 - "Rollercoasting" over trans Pennine trail, eastwards at low level. ; Skylark - 1 - Sadly,only one singing due to "development".

Firsby Res: Swift - 10+ - Low over crops. ; Skylark - 3 - Singing. ; Grey Heron - 1 - Flushed from small Res. ; Lapwing - 2 - Mobbing Carrion Crow. ; Lapwing - 2 - Mobbing Carrion Crow. ; Grey Heron - 2 - Sat on tree top calling to each other. ; Mallard - 1 ; Coot - 6 - Family 4 chicks. ; Moorhen - 2 - Pair. ; Swallow - 2 ; Swift - 10+ - Low over farmland. ; Reed Bunting - 1 ; Reed Warbler - 1 - Singing top reed bed. ; Blackcap - 1 - Singing Male. ; Chiffchaff - 1 - Singing. ; Chiffchaff - 1 - Singing.
