Parkgate; *Banana* plantation: Herring Gull - 7 - S together ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 5 - 3 ads; 2 2cy, all SW ; Song Thrush - 2 ; Willow Warbler - 1 - quiet, hesitant song; feeding within 2m ; Linnet - 1 - W ; Great Black-backed Gull - 1 - ad, SW ; Goldfinch - 9 ; Redstart - 1 - calling intermittently; very elusive, seen briefly

Parkgate; Barber*s Avenue: House Martin - 4 - over

R Don, Effingham St: Lesser Black-backed Gull - 40 - On weir, including 3 colour-ringed adults (orange, white and black rings - details hopefully to follow). Only species of large gull present 13:00-14:00. ; Black-headed Gull - 80 ; Peregrine - 1 - Apparent female flew through twice, scattering gulls and Feral Pigeons. ; Moorhen - 2+ - 2 adults, 1 fully grown imm and 2 one-week-old chicks. ; Mallard - 15+ - Including a female with 6 well-grown juvs ; Sand Martin - 2 - Hawking insects over river ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - Colour-ringed adult intermedius (white ring NOMW) present; ringed 7/11/2014 as an adult in Puerto de la Caleta de Vélez, Málaga, Spain and seen again in Málaga 18/02/2018 and 28/09/2019 (1861 km from Sheffield). This is the first record away from there. ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - Colour-ringed adult (orange K2CT) ringed as an adult at Pitsea Landfill Site, Essex on 16/01/2016 (North Thames gull group). Six subsequent summer sightings from Faroe Islands (3 April-June 2016, 2 June-Aug 2017 and one April 2019).

Stubley Hollow: Jackdaw - 287 ; Goldfinch - 46 ; Swallow - 28 ; Chiffchaff - 5 ; 319 - 1 ; Kestrel - 1

Thrybergh CP: Whimbrel - 1 - 1 bird flew west 0947 ; Garden Warbler - 1 ; 320 - 2 ; Sparrowhawk - 2 ; Mistle Thrush - 17 - best numbers for a while may be a sign of a good breeding year ; Mandarin - 1 - female still present ; Blackcap - 3 ; Swift - c 40 ; Sand Martin - c 30 ; Tufted Duck - 42 ; Little Grebe - 3 ; Goldfinch - c40

Thrybergh Park: Cormorant - 13 - flock, over from direction of Thrybergh CP, circled & left NW @ 0750hrs

Treeton Dyke: Gadwall - 39 - At N end. ; Tufted Duck - 13 - 12 at S end ; 320 - 1 - Fem at N end ; Mute Swan - 4+ - 2 pairs, each with 5 fully grown cygnets ; Jay - 1 - Flew across lake ; 324 - 1 - Southern Hawker at S end ; Sand Martin - 6 - Hawking insects at S end ; Gadwall - 39 - photo ; Gadwall - 39 - another photo

Woodhouse Washlands: Skylark - 1 ; Linnet - 30 ; Moorhen - 2+ - Pair with 2 small chicks on old course of river

Bramley: Swift - 1 - Single bird over Flanderwell Avenue, majority have left including 2 chicks from Observers loft.

Firsby Res: Lesser Black-backed Gull - 30+ - Down on recently ploughed field inc Juvs. ; Black-headed Gull - 10+ - With LBBGs. ; House Martin - 20+ - Over main Res and cottage. ; Swallow - 1 ; Rook - 50+ ; Jackdaw - 10+ - With Rooks.

Middleton Moor: Shelduck - 2 - Juveniles flying ; Swallow - 150+ - Steady passage over 40 minutes SSE into gale force winds

Rawmarsh: Raven - 2 - soaring over together @ 0855hrs; drifted away E/SE

Redmires Top Res: Green Sandpiper - 1 - In from east, calling and landed in s.w corner but within ten minutes had moved on or was hiding well. Common Sandpiper also present.

Wortley: Willow Tit - 1 - flew past car on A629 near Wortley

Attercliffe: Yellow-legged Gull - 1 - adult with dodgy leg on roof at Warren St,

Crookes Valley Park: Moorhen - 4 - Adult pair and 2 full-grown imms ; Coot - 8 - Including brood of 3 well-grown imms

Moorland Fringe: Nightjar - 4 - 2 males still churring at one site, and an imm/fem, male churring at a second site.

Rawmarsh: Swift - 13 - small party over Manor farm Estate drifting S ; House Martin - 8 - feeding around Manor Estate,only 2prs know to have bred

Redmires conduit: Stonechat - 2 - By pool at end of conduit ; Mallard - 1+ - Female and single small chick

Walkley: Swift - 3+ - still a few birds overhead ; House Martin - 2

Weston Park: Moorhen - 6 - Adult pair and 4 fully grown imms ; Feral Pigeon - 160 - Around duckpond

Birley Edge: Swallow - 4 ; Starling - 75 - Post breeding flock on telegraph wires

Dog Kennel Pond: Mallard - 20+ ; Moorhen - 7+ ; Coot - 2+ ; Black-headed Gull - 10+ ; Great Crested Grebe - 3 ; Kingfisher - 1 ; Red-legged Partridge - 6 ; Pheasant - 6+ ; Stock Dove - 1+ - at least 1 singing
