  • Orgreave: Turnstone - 1 - Feeding on playing fields at dawn.
  • Orgreave Lakes: Common Scoter - 1 - Female type u til 08:45 when flew east. ; Dunlin - 1 - North ; Ringed Plover - 1 south ; Common Sandpiper - 1 - On island ; Sand Martin - 3 ; House Martin - C. 60 - Mostly juvs ; Swallow - 10 ; Little Egret - 3 - 1 on island + 2 singles North.
  • Redmires Top Res: CASPIAN GULL - 1 - Unringed juv/ first-winter again late morning ; Tufted Duck - 19 ; Moorhen - 1
  • Shalesmoor: Peregrine - 1 - high over tram stop
  • Sothall: Gadwall - 1+ - nocmig recorded over garden 0555hr
  • Thorpe Hesley: Pink-footed Goose - c120 - north at 10:15, perfect V
  • Whiteley Woods: Dipper - 1 ; Ring-necked Parakeet - 2+ ; Grey Wagtail - 1

Sunday 18th September 2022

  • Greasbrough Dam,Wentworth: Osprey - 1 - Low over pond, mobbed by 20 or so corvids, flew towards dog kennel pond
  • Handsworth: Pink-footed Goose - 71 - SE At 18.35
  • Kimberworth Park: 319 - 1
  • Mam Tor: Wheatear - 1
  • Middleton Moor: Peregrine - 1 - Juv; several attempts to catch BHG before landing on shoreline
  • Moscar: Barn Owl - 1 - by A57 between Moscar and Hollow Meadows at 02:20
  • Orgreave Lakes: Pink-footed Goose - C150 - In 3 skeins between 07.40 and 10.00.
  • Ramsley Moor: Chiffchaff - 3
  • Rawmarsh Cemetery: Tawny Owl - 2 - m & f calling, 0400-0430hrs
  • Redmires Res: Canada Goose - 4 ; Greylag Goose - 22 ; Kestrel - 4 ; Common Buzzard - 1 ; Tufted Duck - 20 - on Top Res ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 20 - c. ; Herring Gull - 6 ; CASPIAN GULL - 1 - juv (unringed) on Top Res with LBBs ; Grey Wagtail - 3 ; Chiffchaff - 17 - around reservoir perimter ; Pied Wagtail - 6 - flew S ; Lesser Redpoll - 4 - flew W ; Siskin - 4 ; Bullfinch - 6 ; Jay - 2 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 ; Reed Bunting - 2 - on path ; Raven - 2 ; Linnet - 30 - on Middle Res ; Skylark - 1 - on Roper Hill ; Snipe - 1 - again in wet flush on Roper Hill

  • Brogging Moss: Wheatear - 2 - Perched on rock not far from Foulstone Road track.
  • Green Moor: Chiffchaff - 5 - together at garden water feature
  • Loxley Valley: Pink-footed Goose - c120 - 3 skeins high SE c18:00
  • Malin Bridge: Meadow Pipit - 1 - over low calling
  • Middleton Moor: Pheasant - 10 ; Stonechat - 2 ; Tufted Duck - 1 ; Moorhen - 1
  • Norfolk Heritage Park: Tawny Owl - 1 - "kevick" calling from Jervis Lumb, 05:45
  • Orgreave: Raven - 2 - Birds in building site compound viewed from Cherry Wood Way, present for 10 minutes then left north west
  • Orgreave Lakes: Pink-footed Goose - 1243 - going East 9 skeins = 449; going SE 11 skeins = 793; Total 1243
  • Ramsley Moor: Greenfinch - 7 ; Stonechat - 2
  • Ranmoor: Pink-footed Goose - c80 - SE at 08:35
  • Ravenfield Park: Osprey - 1 - Over NW at 14:45hrs probably same one as Wentworth, ; Sparrowhawk - 2 - Harassing Crows and chasing each other round Treeline.

  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Common Buzzard - 1 - low over then E/SE @ 0925hrs
  • Redmires Res: Tufted Duck - 19 - on Top Res ; Canada Goose - 4 ; Pink-footed Goose - 660 - east in 7 skeins from around 08:20 - 09.40 hrs ; Peregrine - 1 - hunting over Bottom Res ; Kestrel - 5 - in general area ; Stonechat - 2 ; Chiffchaff - 18 - still present around reservoir perimeter ; Siskin - 5 ; Lesser Redpoll - 2 - flew NE - first of autumn ; House Martin - 2 - flew W ; Swallow - 1 - flew W ; Meadow Pipit - 25 - flock on walls along conduit
  • Redmires Top Res: Pink-footed Goose - c.650 - moved SE 08:15-09:30 ; Pink-footed Goose - c.650 - another photo ; Lesser Redpoll - 2 - over ; Nuthatch - 2 ; Goldfinch - 15 - feeding on thistle down
  • Ringinglow Bog: Kestrel - 5 ; Swallow - 4 - headed SW ; Red Grouse - 15 ; Short-eared Owl - 1 - this evening
  • Shirecliffe Tip: Pink-footed Goose - c1000 - viewing from Shirecliffe 9am-10am looking W, 2 distinct flightlines. One from direction of Midhope heading ESE over Wharncliffe and to the N (c220 in 5 skeins), and another from Redmires-Owler Bar heading mainly SE of the city centre (c790 in 11 skeins). ; 324 - 1 - Roe Deer on tip
