  • Attercliffe: Peregrine - 1 - ad on Bernard Road incinerator building
  • Barbrook Filters: Stonechat - 2 - Pair ; Reed Bunting - 4 ; Wren - 1 - Singing briefly
  • Crowhole: Grey Wagtail - 1
  • Handsworth garden: Grey Wagtail - 1 - In standing water on flat garage roof.
  • Hangingwater garden: Long-tailed Tit - c 10 - in late afternoon irruption with other birds ; Blue Tit - c 8 ; Coal Tit - 2 ; Blackcap - 1 - f (saw off Robin) ; Blackbird - 1 ; Chaffinch - 2 - 1m + 1f
  • Hillsborough: Cormorant - 1 - over S
  • Meersbrook Park: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 drumming ; Redwing - 9
  • Middleton Moor: Lapwing - 97 ; Black-headed Gull - 81 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 10 ; Common Gull - 1 ; Wigeon - 3
  • Orgreave Lakes: Water Rail - 1 - By the Rother
  • R Don, Effingham St: Chiffchaff - 4+ - together in feeding flock with Blue, Great and Long-tailed Tits, at least 4 birds. ; 320 - 1 - drake ; Cormorant - 1 - fishing in river ; Goosander - 2 - m & f
  • Ramsley Res: Brambling - 1+ - At least 1 male on feeders
  • Rawmarsh; Bellows Road: Mistle Thrush - 1 - settled on mobile mast
  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Great Tit - 1 - singing in garden ; Blue Tit - 4 - chasing excitedly through gardens - just like spring!
  • Silver Wood: Pink-footed Goose - c.30 - in field of winter wheat between N edge of woods and track to Pingle Lane Tip at 09.40. Presumably grounded in fog, and first I've ever seen 'down' in Silverwood area in over 30 years of watching the site
  • Staveley: Goosander - 3 - on Chesterfield Canal ; Cormorant - 1 - on Chesterfield Canal ; Kingfisher - 1 - on Chesterfield Canal
  • Thrybergh CP: Goosander - 2 - Males, Thrybergh lane end.
  • Tinsley Golf Course: Mistle Thrush - 5 - 2 singing ; Redwing - 10+
  • Walkley garden: Tawny Owl - 1 - Calling from lime tree

  • Brownhills Lane: Greylag Goose - 40 ; Curlew - 1 - flying over, calling.
  • Chatsworth Park: Brambling - 20+ - Under beech trees between Edensor and House ; Little Grebe - 1 ; Goosander - 2 - Pair ; Carrion Crow - 1 - Feeding on half submerged Pheasant carcass in river ; Coot - 11 - Much lower number than recent years
  • Ecclesall: Raven - 1 - flew W at 09:15 hrs - mobbed by local Carrion Crows
  • Endcliffe Park: Dipper - 2 - close to playground
  • Fulwood garden: Brambling - 5 - 4m and 1f around feeders ; Collared Dove - 2 - including one singing
  • Graves Park: Redwing - 14+ - In one of Farm fields ; Tufted Duck - 2 - males, Middle lake ; Mandarin - 5 - 3m, 2f
  • Green Moor: Redwing - 30+ - Feeding in same field ; Fieldfare - 60+ - In same field
  • Leash Fen: Stonechat - 1 - A male ; Snipe - 2
  • Middleton Moor: Lapwing - 166 ; Golden Plover - 3 ; Wigeon - 3 - Male,2 females ; Goosander - 1 - Redhead ; 320 - 2 - Males ; Pink-footed Goose - 3 - Feeding on grassy shoreline
  • Old Whittington: Stock Dove - 4 - up to 4 ; Fieldfare - 1 ; Redwing - 3 ; Goldcrest - 1 ; Goldfinch - 1
  • R Don, Effingham St: CASPIAN GULL - 1 - first-winter showing various (but not all) features mid-afternoon ; CASPIAN GULL - 1 - another photo showing underwing ; CASPIAN GULL - 1 - a final photo showing rump and uppertail
  • R Sheaf, Heeley: Mandarin - 2 - 1m, 1f - Broadfield Rd
  • Ranmoor: Pink-footed Goose - c100 - Flying west low over house at 15:48
