  • Old Denaby Flash: Little Egret - 1
  • Orgreave Lakes: Shelduck - 4 - 3 drakes 1 duck. Circled main pond without landing. ; Lapwing - 1 - Female guarding single chick. ; Long-tailed Tit - 7 - Family group out feeding alongside river.
  • Peat Pits: Wheatear - 2 - feeding from stone wall. ; Skylark - 3 - all singing.
  • R Derwent, Calver Mill: Mandarin - 1+ - female with 4 chicks c. a week old
  • R Derwent, Froggatt: Mandarin - 1+ - female with 8 small chicks opposite Stoke Brook/ Derwent confluence
  • Ramsley Res: Stonechat - 1+ - m with small fledged young ; Robin - 1 - carrying food
  • Redmires Bottom Res: Cuckoo - 1 - South of bottom res ; Lesser Redpoll - 2 - Pair South of bottom res.
  • Redmires conduit: Lapwing - 3 - 3 adults plus one very young chick ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 ; Curlew - 1 ; Greylag Goose - 20 ; Willow Warbler - 1 ; Wheatear - 1 - possible Greenland race
  • Redmires Middle Res: Oystercatcher - 1 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Common Sandpiper - 1 ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - In field high above middle res singing frequently ; Tufted Duck - 1 - Male ; Whitethroat - 1 ; Linnet - 3 ; Swift - 6 - Up to 6 over middle res. ; Garden Warbler - 1 - Plantation by middle res ; Blackcap - 1 - Plantation by middle res. Male ; Herring Gull - 7 - including several adults ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 4 - all adults
  • Redmires Res: Tufted Duck - 1 - male on Top Res - close to SW corner where pair seen recently ; Kestrel - 1 ; Common Buzzard - 1 ; Merlin - 1 - male seen hunting N of Top Res - flushed a Snipe in the process ; Wheatear - 1 - female Greenland type in fields along conduit ; Crossbill - 3 - flew high to the south ; Reed Bunting - 1 - male singing N of reservoir ; Whitethroat - 4 - singing ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - male now holding territory south side of Middle Res - chased off Willow Warbler and Reed Bunting ; Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - reeling by Middle Res ; Willow Warbler - 11 - singing ; Lesser Redpoll - 1 - male displaying by Top Res ; Siskin - 2 - displaying by Top Res ; Garden Warbler - 1 - singing by Top Res ; Common Sandpiper - 6 ; Snipe - 4 ; Curlew - 14 - 7 pairs - 2 south of Middle Res & 5 along conduit ; Golden Plover - 4 - displaying - 1 over Roper Hill + 3 along conduit ; Lapwing - 20 - 10 pairs - including pairs with 3 and 1 young ; Herring Gull - 4 ; Skylark - 4 - singing along conduit ; Redshank - 1 - flew low from Middle Res towards Roper Hill at 06:30 hrs - presumed part of a breeding pair ; Swallow - 6 - over Top Res ; House Martin - 1 - over Bottom Res ; Moorhen - 2 - one on Top Res and call heard from works pond ; Swift - 2 - over conduit
  • Redmires Top Res: Spotted Flycatcher - 1 ; Tufted Duck - 2 - pair ; Greylag Goose - 8+ - including 3 pairs with 4, 5 and 9+ juvs respectively ; Canada Goose - 6+ - including pair with 5 juvs ; Garden Warbler - 1 - singing at end of road
  • Rivelin Valley: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Adult taking food to nest high in oak tree. Young calling loudly.
  • Stubley Hollow: Blackcap - 2 ; Garden Warbler - 1 ; Willow Warbler - 1 ; Whitethroat - 1 ; Swallow - 1 ; Mistle Thrush - 3 ; Song Thrush - 2 ; Blackbird - 25 ; Chiffchaff - 4
  • Thrybergh CP: Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - 2cy ; Black-headed Gull - 6 - max ; Sand Martin - 50+ - feeding over water ; Swallow - 20+ ; Song Thrush - 1 - singing ; Reed Bunting - 1 - singing ; Swift - c70 - c40 through N & c30 feeding over fields to E ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - singing briefly on Point ; Whitethroat - 2+ - singing ; Blackcap - 3+ - singing ; Coot - c25 ; Great Crested Grebe - 3 ; Tufted Duck - 6 - 2prs + 2m ; Mute Swan - c70 - + broods of 5 + now apparently 3! ; Moorhen - 3 ; House Martin - 20+ ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - over to W ; Willow Warbler - 1 - singing ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - female ; Chiffchaff - 1+ - singing ; GREAT WHITE EGRET - 1 - circled over very high several times before leaving S @ 0705hrs (record shot!)
  • Thrybergh Res: Yellow Wagtail - 1 ; Reed Warbler - 2 - pair nestbuilding, nest almost complete.
  • Thrybergh Tip: Cetti's Warbler - 1 - singing regularly ; Pochard - 1 - male commuting between river and pool. ; Gadwall - 7 - 6m 1f ; Swift - 200+ - large flock feeding low over Thrybergh Park wood. ; Mute Swan - 3 - inc pair with 3 cygnets on pool. ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - brief snatches of song.
