  • Firsby Res: Moorhen - 1 ; Coot - 6+ - 2 pairs both with chicks. ; Mallard - 7+ ; 319 - 1 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Calling.

  • Greno Wood: Woodcock - 03-Apr - Roding from 21.50
  • Herringthorpe Wood: Red Kite - 1 - circling northwards high over the wood.at 11.50.
  • Holling Dale piece: Song Thrush - 3 - all singing. ; Woodcock - 2 - roding at dusk.
  • Kilnhurst Ings: Barn Owl - 1
  • Kimberworth: Greenfinch - 1 - Well advanced juvenile in trees at the bottom of the garden.
  • Middle Common: Lapwing - 14 - same as seen earlier? now resting in large bare patch in field with 10+ Carrion Crow feeding
  • Moorland Fringe: Nightjar - 17 - 14 churring males at 9 sites.

  • Rivelin Valley: Dipper - 2 - Adult feeding juvenile below Little London Mill weir
  • Roundwood Golf course: Pied Wagtail - 1 - male, feeding on fairway ; Coal Tit - 1 - singing
  • Scholes Ground: Skylark - 1 - singing, above oil seed rape and wheat crop
  • Shepherd Wheel dam: Mallard - 9 - F + single duckling a couple of weeks old; F + 6 recently hatched ducklings
  • Stubley Hollow: Blackcap - 3 - 2M1F ; Chiffchaff - 1 ; Swallow - 5 ; 319 - 1 - Being mobbed by 2 Lesser Black Backs
  • Tinsley: Barn Owl - 1 - Dead on M1 hard shoulder near Outokumpu site.
  • Upper Common, Scholes: Lapwing - 14 - feeding, ground mainly bare and uncultivated ; 319 - 1 - over fields and N end of Scholes Coppice ; Skylark - 1 - up from wheat crop
  • Wentworth Park: 319 - 2 - together over Peacock Lodge Farm
  • Wharncliffe Chase: Swallow - 6 - At least 2 nest sites. ; Siskin - 1 ; Skylark - Oct-15 - Several still singing at dusk ; Linnet - 8 - Birds at two of traditional breeding colonies ; Stock Dove - 3 - One singing ; Reed Bunting - 3 - All singing males ; Snipe - 1 - Flew from flash and circled area several times ; Willow Warbler - 12+ - singing ; Blackcap - 3 - 3 singing ; Garden Warbler - 1 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Chiffchaff - 1 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 2 ; Swift - 6 ; Mistle Thrush - c15 - Several juvs ; Pied Flycatcher - 2+ - Breeding confirmed, male feeding 1+ young hidden in tree tops ; Raven - 1 ; Stonechat - 10+ - 3+ juvs plus pairs carrying food to nests. ; Lapwing - 4 ; Tree Pipit - 8+ - Singing until dusk, several seen food carrying too ; Yellowhammer - 3 ; Song Thrush - 2
  • Whiston Brook: Little Egret - 1 - Flew up from brook and landed in tree. ; Little Egret - 1 - second picture
  • Whiteley Woods House: Willow Warbler - 1 - Still on territory in the scrub down from the House on the east side.

  • Big Moor: Whinchat - 1 - carrying food ; Tree Pipit - 1 - singing ; Willow Warbler - 2 - carrying food ; Grey Wagtail - 2
  • Bradfield Dale: Tree Pipit - 2 - two birds singing in felled section of Wragg House Plantation (SK244913 & SK245914)
  • Brownhills Lane: Curlew - 23 - In newly mown field.
  • Green Moor: Yellowhammer - 3+ - Pair with at least one young - bred ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 2 ; Tawny Owl - 1
  • Hey Bank: Wood Warbler - 2 - Singing in wood below track
  • Kelham Island: Sand Martin - 3++ - Artificial sand martin wall overlooking the weir is finally being used by sand martins!
  • Kimberworth Park: Swift - c10 - low over roof tops of Strafford Road/Shearman Avenue/ Remount Road
  • Langsett Res: Canada Goose - 86 ; Oystercatcher - 2 - 2 adults ; Great Crested Grebe - 3 ; Tufted Duck - Pair ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 8
  • Loxley: Barn Owl - 1 - Hunting on Myers lane
  • Margery Hill: Red Kite - 2 - Flying north
  • Midhope Res: Osprey - 1 - Record shot. Just appeared circling high with 2 Buzzards at 15.25 before drifting north. ; Oystercatcher - 3 - Adult with 2 well grown juvs. ; Greylag Goose - 121 - Inc. numerous juvs. ; 320 - 5 - 3 male, 2 female ; Tufted Duck - 7 - 5 adults, 2 duckling ; Little Grebe - 2 - 2 adults
