  • Barbrook Plantation: Woodcock - 1 ; Blackbird - 1 - recently fledged
  • Burbage Valley: Kestrel - 3 - Family group hunting
  • Harthill Res: CASPIAN GULL - 1 - down at c09:00 then flew west
  • Hathersage: Swift - 3+
  • Ladybower Res, South arm: Grey Wagtail - 1
  • Loxley Valley: Peregrine - 1 - calling and carrying prey around Forge Valley school
  • Orgreave Lakes: BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 2 - Adult & juv still present, though generally distant. ; Black-tailed Godwit - 3 - Until 6:30 only ; Redshank - 3 - Circled then south ; Common Sandpiper - 1 ; Common Gull - 1 - Adult
  • Ramsley Res: Spotted Flycatcher - 2+ ; Blackbird - 1 ; Wren - 1 ; Whinchat - 2+ ; Whitethroat - 2 ; Siskin - 5 - family group feeding below pines
  • Redmires Res: Sedge Warbler - 3 - family party in bushes by Middle Res - first confirmed breeding record for this site
  • Rivelin Valley: Sparrowhawk - ad and 2 juvs - in trees by Hollins Bridge

  • Burbage Valley: Ring Ouzel - 1 - Juvenile ; Spotted Flycatcher - 2 - Parent ; Spotted Flycatcher - 2 - Juvenile ; Kestrel - 1
  • Langsett Res: Lesser Black-backed Gull - c235 - 9pm ; Oystercatcher - 4 - 2ad 2 juv ; House Martin - 5 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Black-headed Gull - c450 - 9pm ; Common Gull - 2+
  • Malin Bridge: Blackbird - 4 - Blackbirds .male and female feeding 2 chicks on mulberries in Norris road garden.
  • Midhope Res: Swallow - 6 - at least 3 juvs ; Meadow Pipit - 1 ; Common Sandpiper - 3 ; Yellowhammer - 1 - singing 20:00 ; Tufted Duck - 21 - 3 broods - female + 4 juvs, f+5 juvs, 5 + 5 well grown juvs, 5 moulting adults. ; Little Grebe - 6 - 2ads + 4 juvs ; Jackdaw - 192 ; Kestrel - 1 ; 319 - 2 ; Stock Dove - 2 ; 321 - 1 ; Oystercatcher - 1
  • Millhouses: Bullfinch - 3 - A male with two juveniles

  • Norwood Allotments: Red Kite - 1 - over high south late afternoon. Briefly buzzed by a peregrine ; Black-headed Gull - c65 - hawking for flying ants late afternoon ; Swift - 2-300 - massive numbers of swift compared to normal. Feeding high, mostly not visible without binoculars but hard to count as spread out. Possibly attracted to the flying ants. ; Hobby - 1 - briefly appeared among the swirling mass of gulls and swifts
  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Common Buzzard - 1 - low over, mobbed by crows @ 1125hrs; drifted W ; Kestrel - 1 - circling high over, left N @ 1125hrs
  • Rivelin Valley: Grey Heron - 1 - Juvenile fishing at Third Coppice Wheel ; Mandarin - 1 - single female on Wolf Wheel ; Mallard - 6 - One duckling ; Nuthatch - 2

  • Arbourthorne: Mallard - 13 - On pond 05:30. ; Moorhen - 11 - 2adult 5chick 4 well grown juvs on pond ; Swift - 15+ - over pond and adj estate ; Starling - 70+ - 70-80 on fields adj to pond ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 ; Black-headed Gull - 14 - on fields adj to pond
  • Attercliffe: Yellow-legged Gull - 2 - adults at Warren Street ; Peregrine - 1 - adult on Bernard Rd incinerator building
  • Beauchief Golf Course: Ring-necked Parakeet - 2 - A pair on Beauchief Drive just beyond the cottages flew across the golf course towards the tree-covered hill adjacent to Bocking Lane
  • Chapeltown: Swift - 10+ - Screaming over nest site on Burncross Road ; Swift - c25 - Screaming overhead mid PM, often chasing in single group
  • Dennis Knoll, wood N of car park: Blue Tit - 5+ - family group ; Dunnock - 2 - juvs ; Spotted Flycatcher - 4+ - family group ; Wren - 4+ - family group ; Willow Warbler - 5 - family group ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1
  • Lodge Moor: Tree Sparrow - 1+ - calling from bushes at the back of the new housing development along Lodge Moor Road
  • Malin Bridge: Swift - 30+ - Large groups of Swifts again screaming 30+..high above Norris road area. Small groups 5+ coming down to below roof level all day. Very loud screaming.
  • Manor Fields Park: Goldfinch - 35+ - single flock early am ; Chiffchaff - 2 - singing ; Song Thrush - 2 ; Mallard - 1 ; Moorhen - 10 - 3 adults 2 chick 5 well grown juvs on pond 6am
  • Middleton Moor: Wheatear - 5 - family group of 5+ birds still present ; Lapwing - 37 ; Ringed Plover - 1 ; Shelduck - 6 - family group still intact
  • Norton Lees: Swift - 10
  • Orgreave Lakes: BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 2 - Pristine adult and a juvenile ; Yellow-legged Gull - 1 - 3rd summer ; Ringed Plover - 1
  • R Don, Effingham St: Black-headed Gull - c30
  • Redmires Res: Little Grebe - 5 - 2 ads & 3 juvs on Top Res ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 65 ; Yellow-legged Gull - 2 - ads with LBBs ; Herring Gull - 12 - with LBBs ; Little Ringed Plover - 2 ; Curlew - 2 - juvs in fields along Soughley Lane
