Whirlow Hall Farm: 324 - 1 - Wall Brown butterfly. Used to be common here, but only the second one I've seen in recent years

Chapeltown: Swift - Oct-15 - Screaming over nest site on Burncross Road 20.55.

Ecclesfield: Swallow - 3 - Calling, High St

Kimberworth: Blackcap - 1 - Female looking for insects in trees at the bottom of the garden. ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - Perched briefly in the alder tree at the bottom of the garden.

Langsett Res: Lesser Black-backed Gull - 84 - Single group of 84 arrived from west at 7.55. Majority sub-adults. ; Oystercatcher - 1 - Alarming

Centenary Riverside: Kingfisher - 1 - Male, flew under bridge 14.20 then perched preening for 10 minutes.

Crookes: Swift - 12+ - Circling over School Road.

Ecclesall: House Sparrow - 21 - Record flock of house sparrows in garden. Good numbers of juveniles indicating a very good breeding season.

Midhope Res: Little Grebe - 17 - Adults with juvs spread across the res, signs of a good breeding season. ; Swallow - 4 - Juvs ; Common Sandpiper - 1 ; Willow Warbler - 1 - singing ; Tufted Duck - 8 - Female calling to 4 well grown juvs ; Grey Wagtail - 1 - juv ; Sand Martin - 6 ; Crossbill - 4 - Flew towards Langsett calling ; Greylag Goose - c170

Millhouses: House Sparrow - 36+ - In the observer's garden. Another quite productive breeding season with 4+ successful nests.

Orgreave Lakes: Ringed Plover - 1 ; Common Sandpiper - 4 ; Dipper - 1 - Juv feeding at the weir. ; Goldfinch - 110+ - Flock feeding on the hill. ; Yellow Wagtail - 8 ; Yellow Wagtail - 12 - All juvs

Redmires conduit: Lapwing - 2 - 2 juveniles close to path

RVCP, Main Lake: Little Egret - 1 - presumed juv still on nest on island in the heronry

Thorpe Hesley: 319 - 1 - Flew low over M1 J35 15.10

Waterthorpe: Starling - 30+ - ads + part-moulted juvs ; Pied Wagtail - 2 - Adult soaking dried mealworms in water before taking to the nest.

Weston Park: Moorhen - 6 - 2 Adults with 4 young surviving since 03/08
