  • Cross Hill, Ecclesfield: Swift - 1 - West at 20.00
  • Longshaw: Redstart - 2 - Male and female juveniles ; Redstart - 2 - Another photo
  • Offerton Hall: Swallow - 50+
  • Offerton Moor: Stonechat - 6 - pr + 4 juvs ; Wren - 1 ; 319 - 1
  • Orgreave Lakes: Greylag Goose - 87 ; Dunlin - 1 ; Little Ringed Plover - 2 - Juvs still ; Swift - 2
  • R Sheaf, Broadfield Road: Mandarin - 5+ - group of young ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Mallard - 12+ - mixed group of adults and young
  • Rawmarsh: Kestrel - 1 - soaring over @ 1202hrs; drifted W
  • Shiregreen: COMMON CRANE - 2 - Reported - at height, heading in a Westerly direction at 16:20.
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Greenshank - 1 - south at 09.35
  • Walkley: Common Buzzard - 2 - Bole Hill Rd - One low (calling), other very high, towards Bole Hill Rec.
  • Walkley garden: Willow Warbler - 2 - Juveniles taking morning bath

Tuesday 24th August 2021

  • Agden Rocher: Dunnock - 1 ; Wren - 1 ; Stonechat - 5 - family party fly catching . ; Linnet - 57+ - 57 counted , many more calling in tree tops. ; Mistle Thrush - 13 - single group feeding in sheep fields. ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 ; Kestrel - 1
  • Bamford Edge: Red Kite - 3 - 3 individuals soaring over Bamford edge heading south
  • Blackburn Meadows NR: 319 - 1 - Took off near pond calling 15.05
  • Brightside: Mistle Thrush - 9 - One group flew across Fell Street.
  • Brownhills Lane: Common Gull - 1 - In roadside field with black-h-gulls
  • Castle Dyke playing fields: Pied Wagtail - 20+ - Distributed over playing fields. Here most days in varying numbers, but difficult to count.
  • Cutthroat Bridge: Red Grouse - 05-Jul ; 319 - 1 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Mistle Thrush - 2 ; Swallow - 4
  • Dog Kennel Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 1 ; Cormorant - 1 ; Mallard - 10+ ; Kestrel - 1 - male @ W end ; Moorhen - 1 - juv ; Coot - 2+ ; Black-headed Gull - 12+ ; Swallow - 5+ ; House Martin - 1+ ; Robin - 1 - singing ; Wren - 1 - singing ; Jay - 1
  • Ecclesall: Swift - 1 - circling
  • Ecclesfield: House Martin - 6 - Adults attending to nest, Sycamore Rd; 6 flying together (family group?).
  • Low Common: 319 - 2 - over field with 60+ BH (field recently cut,tractor muck spreading) @ 13:30.
  • Middle Common: 319 - 1 - on tel.poles
  • Midhope Res: Swallow - c100-200 - 15.15 distributed across immediate area ; House Martin - c300-500 - 15.15 hard to estimate numbers as a dense group fed across immediate area. ; Lapwing - c160 ; Meadow Pipit - 10+ ; 320 - 11 ; Mallard - 101 ; Tufted Duck - 10 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 8 - One looking moribund ; Hobby - 1 - Unsurprisingly one appeared from the east and flew through hirundine group over Upper Midhope before continuing west. ; Willow Warbler - 4 ; Tree Pipit - 2 - 1 south + 1 with MP’s ; 319 - 4 ; Common Gull - 1 - flew SE ; Pied Wagtail - 8+ ; Moorhen - 6 ; Little Grebe - 14 ; Linnet - 1 ; Kestrel - 2
  • Orgreave Lakes: Wheatear - 1 - sat on the fence between the 2 lakes. ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - Juv north shore reeds ; Yellow Wagtail - 12 - Juvs ; Little Ringed Plover - 2 - Juvs ; Dunlin - 2 - On small lake island ; Shoveler - 4 - Circled
  • Redmires Res: Canada Goose - 66 - flushed by dog walker (again)
