Morley Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 4 ; Mute Swan - 2 - pair, 1 on nest ; Greylag Goose - 3+ ; Mallard - 10+ - several pairs ; Shoveler - 6+ - 3 pairs, possibly 4, highest count I've ever recorded here. ; Tufted Duck - 23 - including 15 males ; Moorhen - 1 ; Coot - 1+ ; Common Sandpiper - 1 ; Swallow - 4 ; Jackdaw - 3 - around nest in Beech, E end.

Moss Road,Totley: 319 - 2 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Wheatear - 1 ; Stonechat - 2 - Pair ; Meadow Pipit - 20+ - In horse pasture. ; Linnet - 4 ; Lesser Redpoll - 2 ; Greenfinch - 12+

Norwood Allotments: Willow Warbler - 1 - First of the year singing this morning ; Red Kite - 1 - Over north at 08:45

Padley Gorge: Nuthatch - 2 - pair in and out of nest hole in Scots Pine with nesting material

Parkhead: 319 - 1 - chased from Ecclesall Wood by crow

Redmires conduit: Wheatear - 1

Redmires Res: Canada Goose - 6 ; Greylag Goose - 4 ; Mallard - 12 ; 320 - 2 ; Little Grebe - 1 ; Moorhen - 2 - on Top Res - including courtship swimming! ; Curlew - 8 ; Lapwing - 6 ; Little Ringed Plover - 1 - displaying ; Grey Plover - 1 - arrived from south at 08:07 hrs, circled Middle and Top Res calling, before continuing WNW. A scarce visitor these days particularly in spring ; Swallow - 1 ; Pied Wagtail - 2 ; Willow Warbler - 1 - singing briefly by Middle Res ; Chiffchaff - 2 - singing ; Herring Gull - 6

Rockingham Wood: Robin - 1+ - singing ; Long-tailed Tit - 2 - probable pair, W edge ; Coal Tit - 1 - singing ; Blue Tit - 1 - singing ; Chiffchaff - 2 - singing ; Nuthatch - 1 - singing, N end ; Treecreeper - 1

RVCP, Main Lake: Whooper Swan - 15+1 - 1 on lake, at 0940hr a further 15 arrived from the south. Over next 20 minutes the group left and returned four times calling to the lone bird which had two attempts at joining them before it gave up and landed back on the main lake. ; Little Egret - 3 ; Sand Martin - 1 ; Willow Tit - 1 - singing male in trees near the cable ski ; Whooper Swan - 15 - flew NW

Shillito Wood: Yellowhammer - 3 - 2m 1f ; Brambling - 2 - m + f - under feeders ; Brambling - 2 - another photo ; Greenfinch - 1 - on feeder ; Goldfinch - 20+ ; Reed Bunting - 2 ; Pheasant - 3 - 2m 1f under feeders

Silverwood Lagoon: Whooper Swan - 1 - in at 09.00. Constantly harassed by resident male Mute Swan, flew off several times but always returned. Last seen at around 10.00 when driven into channel in SE corner, where may have been injured or even killed ; Willow Warbler - 6 - singing

Unstone: Nuthatch - 2 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 ; Goldcrest - 2 ; Treecreeper - 1 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 ; Mandarin - 2 - Pair in tree near Woodsmithies Farm ; 319 - 3 ; Chaffinch - 4 ; Greenfinch - 4 ; Swallow - 2 ; Chiffchaff - 4+ - Birds singing all along Unstone Line

Upper Common, Scholes: Meadow Pipit - 1 - up from oil seed rape

Wharncliffe Wood: Long-tailed Tit - 2 - Nest under construction found in brambles

Abney Moor: Stonechat - 1 - song-flight over the heather

Agden Res: Pink-footed Goose - 2 - together on dam wall with Greylags ; Greylag Goose - 6 ; Oystercatcher - 2

Bradfield Moors: Red Kite - 3 - 2 together top of Dukes Road, and third bird over Agden Rocher. ; Raven - 2

Brick Kiln Plantation: Stock Dove - 1 - singing ; Robin - 1 - singing ; Dunnock - 1 - singing ; Blue Tit - 2+ - at least 1 pair ; Great Tit - 1 - singing ; Chaffinch - 1 - singing ; Goldfinch - 1 - singing ; Mallard - 1 - male ; Magpie - 1

Brogging Moss: Red Grouse - 1+ ; Meadow Pipit - 5+ - displaying ; Wheatear - 1 - female feeding around grouse butt ; Golden Plover - 2 - possibly on territory

Cartledge Stones Ridge: Curlew - 1 - displaying ; Meadow Pipit - 10+ - some displaying ; Red Grouse - 5+ ; Carrion Crow - 2 - flying over ; Skylark - 1 - singing male ; 319 - 3 - Hanging on updraught over Cartledge Brook then joined by another two whereupon all three circled together for some minutes
