Elsecar Res: Garganey - 1 - a drake reported ; Mute Swan - 2+ - pair + 7 cygnets

Ewden Valley: Woodcock - 1 - Roding before dawn

Fox Hagg, Rivelin: Pied Flycatcher - 1 - singing near river west of the old filter beds

Fulwood garden: Greenfinch - 2+ - pair and at least one fledged juv ; Starling - 20+ - several pairs with fledged juvs overhead today ; Blackbird - 5 - including 3 males chasing

Greystones garden: Swift - 2 - Over ; Starling - 4 - 1 Juvenile - 1st of the year

Norfolk Heritage Park: Tawny Owl - 1+ - At least one, probably two or more, fledglings heard in the park this evening.

Norfolk Park: Red Kite - 1 - drifting over Park Grange estate and Black Bank, flew off, high up, towards Arbourthorne.

R Sheaf, Broadfield Road: Mandarin - 25 - 17 males, 4 females (one with a brood of 4 small ducklings)

Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Greenfinch - 3 - inc 2 singing/displaying

Redmires: Cuckoo - 3 - vying for territory, fending off small birds. In the felled woodland below Stanage pole. Two observed 'tussling' and third calling at the same time.

Redmires conduit: Mallard - 1+ - female with 5 small chicks ; Lapwing - 4+ - including adult with 3 half-grown chicks ; Lapwing - 6 ; Curlew - 2 ; Cuckoo - 1 - Calling ; Kestrel - 1 - Female not having much luck hunting ; Pheasant - 1 ; 324 - 6+ - good numbers of Green Hairstreak ; 324 - 20+ - emergence of Large Red Damselflies

Westwood CP: Ring-necked Parakeet - 1 - Flew over flying field and landed in nearby tree, near Greaves Lane layby. Calling as it flew.

Whiteley Woods: Willow Warbler - 2 - Apparently two territories near the old Whiteley Woods Clinic ; Dipper - 4 - Two adults attending two fledglings
