  • Blacka Moor: Green Woodpecker - 1 - In flight ; Stonechat - 11 - 4 seperate sites of 3, 3, 4 and 1 single ; Kestrel - 2 - 1 male, 1 female hunting over Strawberry Lee and Blacka ; Redwing - 3 - 3 calling over, heading SE ; Magpie - 6 ; Lesser Redpoll - 12 ; Bullfinch - 1 - Single male calling ; Meadow Pipit - 12 ; Siskin - 3 ; Red Grouse - 1 ; Goldfinch - 10 ; Wren - 4 ; Cormorant - 1 - Heading NW ; Chaffinch - 5 ; Pink-footed Goose - c.650 - Three skeins heading east 08:50-09:08
  • Broomhead Rushy wood feeders: Nuthatch - 4 - on peanut feeders ; Great Tit - 2 - on fat blocks ; Blue Tit - 6 - also on fat blocks ; Jay - 2 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 3 - two males and one female all on different feeders ; Chaffinch - 2 - females ; Wren - 1 ; Woodpigeon - 4 ; 319 - 1
  • Canklow Woods: Common Buzzard - 3 - in the air together at 1100
  • Carr Vale NR: COMMON CRANE - 3 - Seem to have traversed our airspace N-S today, first seen over Anglers CP near Wakefield at 9:40, then tracked S over Wombwell, Cudworth, Brampton, and exiting via Carr Vale NR at 10:55.
  • Cinder Bridge Field: Mallard - 101 - 1 W; 100 E in two loose flocks ; Black-headed Gull - c30 - following tractor ; Common Buzzard - 1 - foraging in field (present in area all morning)
  • Deepcar: Pink-footed Goose - 400+ - at high level about 09.45 in two skeins moving west to east and over crags.
  • Dog Kennel Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 2 ; Cormorant - 3 - inc 2 in tree top ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Mallard - 5+ ; Coot - 5+ ; Black-headed Gull - 10+ ; Mute Swan - 3 - 2 adults with juv ; 319 - 1 ; Jackdaw - 60+ - mobile around lakes
  • Don valley; Aldwarke-Kilnhurst: Common Buzzard - 8 - soaring over simultaneously
  • Dronfield Woodhouse: Pink-footed Goose - c200 - flew east over Gosforth Fields 0900hr
  • Ecclesall: Pink-footed Goose - 200 - Flock heading SE over Ecclesall at 09:35
  • High Green: Pink-footed Goose - c130 - West at 10.45 ; 319 - 1
  • Hoyles Farm: Pink-footed Goose - c40 - Flying E towards Damflask Res ; Mistle Thrush - 4 ; Robin - 5+ ; Red Kite - 1 - 09:10 seen in distance ; Stonechat - 1 ; Pheasant - 3 ; Kestrel - 2 - hunting over rough grassland and recently cut pasture for over 1 hour, also being mobbed by Sparrowhawk at least once. ; Sparrowhawk - 2 - at times being mobbed by crows ; 319 - 2 - soaring low and calling ; Wren - 1 ; Bullfinch - 1 ; Jay - 1 ; Nuthatch - 2 ; Red-legged Partridge - 1
  • Killamarsh: Pink-footed Goose - 100 - c 100 SE at 09:40
  • Longshaw: Redwing - 12
  • Longshaw Lodge: Pink-footed Goose - 50+ - Flying east at 08:50. Only part of skein seen
  • Middle Common: 319 - 1 - on tel.pole adj Rockingham wood, then 2 seen shortly after at N end of wood ; Red-legged Partridge - 8 ; Linnet - 30+ - moving and feeding at times , some stubble still present
  • Moss Valley: 319 - 2 - near Plumbley ; Sparrowhawk - 1 ; Jay - 3+
  • Moss Valley, upper: Skylark - 3
  • New Stubbin colliery/tip: Woodpigeon - present - moderate S/SE movement on a broad front, some onto local fields but many more moving through ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 7 - 6 N; 1 W ; Lesser Redpoll - 1 - E ; Chiffchaff - 2 ; Chaffinch - 8 - inc 2 S; 3 W ; Greylag Goose - 2 - NE/N ; Linnet - 1 - S ; Meadow Pipit - 3 - N ; Starling - 14 - S/SW ; Siskin - 3+ - over, inc 1 W ; Yellowhammer - 6 - inc 1 S ; Cormorant - 1 - SW ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - calling ; Redwing - 1 ; Grey Partridge - 1 - calling ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - 'alba' ssp, S ; Skylark - present - light S movement ; Common Gull - 3 - 2 + 1, all 2cy, W ; Long-tailed Tit - 14 - single flock ; Goldcrest - 1 ; Pink-footed Goose - c140 - E, then N/NE @ 0915hrs, appearing to lose altitude

  • Orgreave Lakes: Pink-footed Goose - 330 ; Raven - 1 - 1 "cronking" as it headed NW at 08:45 ; Rock Pipit - 1 - 1 possibly 2 on north shore by outlet from dawn. ; Snipe - 2 - 1 North shore, 1 tip
