  • Old Ravenfield: Grey Partridge - 1 - Flushed on Pingle Lane Tip. ; Other Species - 1 - Dead Brown Hare appears to have been hunted with dogs.
  • Rawmarsh: Sparrowhawk - 1 - circling over briefly @ 1005hrs
  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Swift - 3 - max over ; House Martin - 1 - over ; Kestrel - 1 - hovering high overhead briefly; drifted N ; Greenfinch - 2+ - inc 1+ singing
  • Redmires Res: Greylag Goose - 30 - c. inc 5 broods of 24 young ; Canada Goose - 25 - inc pair with 3 young ; Mallard - 18 - inc 2 pairs with 8 and 4 young ; Tufted Duck - 5 - 3m + 2f on Middle Res ; Moorhen - 2 - single pairs on Top & Middle Reservoirs ; Kestrel - 1 ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - male singing - south side of Middle Res
  • Silver Wood: Reed Warbler - 1 - a recent arrival singing on railway line pond ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 3+ - Adult feeding noisy chicks in hole high in dead tree. ; Nuthatch - 3+ - Adult feeding chicks in low nest hole.
  • Silverwood Lagoon: BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 3+ - pair with young + third adult ; Great Crested Grebe - 2 ; Reed Warbler - 6 - a couple of extras singing this morning ; Cetti's Warbler - 1 ; House Martin - 3+ - Collecting mud from puddles near Gorse bushes.
  • Silverwood Pit Top: Blue Tit - 3+ - Adult feeding chicks in nest hole in partially buried colliery perimeter wall. ; Magpie - 2+ - Adult feeding chicks in nest in hawthorn bush.
  • Tankersley: Whitethroat - 1 - Singing
  • Thrybergh CP: Common Scoter - 1 - Female, present all morning ; Common Scoter - 1 - Female - another photo
  • Watergrove: Canada Goose - 2+ - a pr with 5 young
  • Wharncliffe Heath: Pied Flycatcher - 9 - 7 males, 2 females.
  • White Lee Moor: Woodcock - 2+ - At least two ; Snipe - 1 - Displaying

  • Barbrook Plantation: Pied Flycatcher - 2 ; Redstart - 2 ; Treecreeper - 01-Feb
  • Burbage Valley: Ring Ouzel - 3 - Calling ; Ring Ouzel - 3 - Male ; Kestrel - 1 ; Meadow Pipit - 3 ; Stonechat - 3 ; Willow Warbler - 3 ; Cuckoo - 1 - Heard & seen near plantation
  • Cartledge Bents: WHITE-TAILED EAGLE - 1
  • Flint Hill: Golden Plover - 2 - pair with 2 small chicks
  • Green Moor: Garden Warbler - 1 - Singing
  • Holmebrook Valley Park: Lesser Whitethroat - 1 - Male singing loudly in hawthorn scrub, in field, far west side of park. ; Whitethroat - 2 - Males singing, west side of park. ; Song Thrush - 2 - Singing ; Blackcap - 4 ; Swift - 5 ; Swallow - 1 - flying over lake
  • Lodge Moor: Tree Sparrow - 2+
  • Longshaw: Kestrel - 1 ; Mandarin - 6 ; Swallow - 1
  • Malin Bridge: Chaffinch - 1 - singing male in gardens, unusual here.
  • Mayfield Valley: 319 - 1
  • Moscar Cross: Red Kite - 3 - 1 at 10.10 north and 2 at 11.35 north east
  • Oughtibridge: Great Tit - 2 - pair nest building in nest box in observers garden. ; Swift - 5 - screaming low down over terraced houses on Church St .
  • Parkwood Springs: Chiffchaff - 4 ; Blackcap - 7 ; Whitethroat - 8 ; Willow Warbler - 7 ; Garden Warbler - 1 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 ; Corvid - 100 - Mixed group of Crows with Jackdaws, sedentary, rising then settling again, near the newly formed 'lake' on the southern lower end of the central landfill site (still closed off).
  • Ramsley Moor: Whinchat - 1 ; Stonechat - 1 ; Tree Pipit - 1 ; Raven - 1 ; Kestrel - 2 ; Cuckoo - 1
  • Redmires: Tree Pipit - 1 - Singing by track to Stanage
  • Redmires conduit: Skylark - 1 ; Curlew - 6+ ; Lapwing - 8+
  • Rivelin Filters: Red Kite - 1 - came from south high up at 16:00 and drifted off to the north
  • Thrybergh CP: Tawny Owl - 1 ; Swift - 20 ; Swallow - 3 ; Sand Martin - 6 ; Pochard - 1 - female
  • Totley Moss: Lapwing - 3
  • Whirlow Park: Cuckoo - 1 - calling in woodland behind Whirlowbrook Hall
  • Wyming Brook: Wood Warbler - 4 - 4 singing ; Oystercatcher - 1 - Over towards Rivelin dams.

  • Centenary Riverside: Grey Wagtail - 1 - Grey Wagtail nest now empty, victim of a predator?
  • Chapeltown: Swift - 03-May
  • Ecclesall: Hobby - 1 - adult flew S early evening
  • Endcliffe Park: Grey Wagtail - 4 - Together ; Mandarin - 9 - 3 adults 6 juv
  • Green Moor: Little Owl - 1 ; Tawny Owl - 3 - Bred , single Owlet ; Tawny Owl - 3 - Photo ; Kestrel - 2 - Breeding on eggs ; Common Buzzard - 6+ - Two nests with young
